Conceptualizing and contextualizing the essence of life, my paintings, drawings, and sculptures are polyglots of multiple thematic and stylistic vocabularies. Often times it draws from the expansive cultural iconographic contents, divinities and aphorism of my traditional African-Yoruba roots, to convey a sense of memory, paradigm of spirituality and philosophical relativity. Other times, it speaks to the beauty of our contemporary society, celebrating the positive aspects of humanity: our music, popular cultures and aesthetics. These combination and approach are passionately enlivened with an engaging and textural use of colors derivable from a fusion of painting surfaces in mixed media, generous brush strokes and intricate wood inlay.
My socio-political cartoons are more of visual realistic statements than comedies. The thematic breadth of these cartoons is such that no subject, personality or institution is sacrosanct. My pictorial satire uses fewer or no words thereby enabling the reach of its messages to countless of millions who speak different languages and those with limited literacy. Since 1985, my evocative (sometimes, provocative) satires dotted the pages of various newspapers and magazines in Nigeria, United Kingdom and United States of America.
